Ohio-based worship leader and minister of music Mark Condon has a reputation as one of the most gifted songwriters and choir leaders in the contemporary gospel field. Make no mistake, the music on MARVELOUS THINGS is the real thing, straight-up gospel that comes from the church, not from a marketing executives plan to promote a "Christian pop" act. Those seeking rock, pop, or R&B posing as Christian music will be disappointed by the traditional, choir-based nature of these modern spiritual songs, but fans of real gospel music will be drawn to Condon's work.
Now, that's not to say Condon and company are the Swan Silvertones. This is not a retro endeavor. Rather, these songs of praise are filled with the funky developments that have worked their way into mainstream gospel music over the last couple of decades, as the chattering rhythm guitar and bluesy organ will attest. Most important is that the overall spirit of Condon's songs comes through, both in the lyrics and the emotive performances thereof.
Recorded live at Turnpoint Apostolic Church, Columbus, Ohio.
